Glasgow families join Scottie sculptures for Farewell Weekend
The Scotties in the City Art Trail may no longer be on the streets of Glasgow, but the 40 giant sculptures, as well as 58 smaller ones, came together for one last time for a Farewell Weekend at Bridgeton Bus Garage, home of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust.
The Glasgow public went wild for the latest Wild in Art trail to come to Scotland – with over 4,500 people visiting the magnificent, colourful Scottie sculptures on display!
The art trail was launched in June by Kirsty Wark, Honorary Patron of Maggie’s, and Glasgow’s Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren, and ran for eight weeks on the streets of Glasgow.
Over the weekend of 29th and 30th August, the sculptures were displayed together in all their glory for one last time . They will be auctioned off on 10th September to raise money for Maggie’s.

Hayley Smith, Project Manager for the Scotties in the City trail for Maggie’s, said: “We have been absolutely delighted at the response to our Scotties in the City Art Trail in partnership with Wild in Art. It has brought Scottie dog lovers and art lovers from all over the world to the city of Glasgow to view our giant Scottie sculptures in support of Maggie’s.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better Farewell Weekend. People loved it, and it really brought the community together – many dog lovers and Scottie sculpture lovers came along, while many others came to see the vintage buses.
“It was a fantastic, fun weekend! We had lots of families, grans and grandads, mums and dads and lots of children along to see our big dogs. Many people came to see the Scotties for one last time before deciding whether to put their hat in the ring to bid for a Scottie sculpture.
“The Scotties will be auctioned on Thursday 10th September to raise as much money as possible to help Maggie’s support people facing a cancer diagnosis, as well as their friends and family.
“People like Judy Murray have bid for these beautiful Wild in Art sculptures in the past, and it is hoped that we get a lot of interest with as many businesses , community groups and individuals bidding for Scottie s as possible.”

Hayley Smith added: “Maggie’s is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and we rely almost entirely on voluntary donations from individuals and the local community to enable our professional team to provide specialist cancer support, psychological support and benefits advice for absolutely everyone who needs it.
The best bit is that no one needs an appointment to visit Maggie’s. Anyone who is worried about cancer can just come in.”
Here for 30 years, here for good
For 30 years, Maggie’s has been at the forefront of transforming care for people impacted by cancer.
Since the first Maggie’s centre opened in 1996 in the grounds of the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, Maggie’s has redefined what cancer care should be, offering free psychological, emotional and practical support for people with cancer as well as their family and friends.
The 27 Maggie’s centres across the UK are built in the grounds of major NHS cancer hospitals and support hundreds of thousands of people each year. No appointment is needed, and people can drop in to speak to fully trained clinical psychologists, benefits advisors, and cancer support specialists.
Help raise vital funds for Maggie’s
Maggie’s is here to support everyone with cancer, whatever stage they’re at, and for their family and friends too.
All our support is free, no appointment or referral is necessary, and there’s no time limit on our support either – we’re here for as long as needed.
We rely on your kindness so we can provide the best possible cancer support and continue to build more centres across the UK.
