Dear Green Place
DescriptionThis Scottie dog sculpture is a living tapestry of Glasgow’s most iconic landmarks as if these had been completely taken over by Nature. The University of Glasgow, the Duke of Wellington’s statue, the Hydro, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Necropolis and many more appear softly reclaimed by nature, each structure blanketed in moss, climbing greenery and delicate woodland growth. Wild animals dot the scene, peeking from branches and foliage, suggesting a city where a serene natural world has substituted urban life. Blending whimsy with homage, the sculpture celebrates Glasgow’s identity and the meaning behind its name, inviting viewers to imagine the city as an ever-growing “dear green place.”
